We all need a mentor to help us. I have personally mentored over 100 students and in doing so I was able to come up with a process for teaching and getting my students to feel like they have been speaking English their entire lives. My system has been proven useful in the class rooms of very experienced TESOL, TEFL, and TESL teachers.

By working closely with many different kinds of ESL teachers and instructors we have narrowed down the top 3 characteristics which help students learn ESL business English.

1) The student must follow a guided lesson plan from someone who has experience inside the business world.
a. The system that I developed has taken my years of business and teaching experience and bundled them up into a nice and concise package that’s ready for you out-of-the-box.

2) The student must practice in scenarios to learn true business English
a. The lesson plans included in the system have guided in and out-of-class exercises which allow the student to practice the lessons taught in the class with real people.

3) Lastly, the student should utilize portable learning material which they can reference on the spot.
a. Our students need to take with them a set of real world note cards which they could reference on the spot.

So you are looking to teach Advanced ESL? I can tell you that the longer you have been in this game the more challenging it gets – but that’s why teachers like us continue to do it.

So you are looking to teach Advanced ESL? I can tell you that the longer you have been in this game the more challenging it gets – but that’s why teachers like us continue to do it. If it wasn’t for teachers and professors of ESL many yearning and aspiring individuals would not have their chance at a brighter future in the ESL international American business economy.

From my experience teaching advanced ESL internationally I can tell you that you are going to want to have set plans in place when working with students who understand the English language but are now looking to polish it.

There are many great resources out there for TESOL, TESL, and TEFL (most notably Dave’s ESL Cafe) but there are few one-stop-shop resources that bring it all together.

My specialty has always been ESL business English because of my years in business and as an ESL teacher. So when I found something that worked I knew I had to share it with you because I knew you would benefit from it too.

The components of any advanced ESL international teaching system are the following:
1) Fully laid out lesson plan broken down by the week (or day depending on your style)
2) Direct and real-world derived text that you can use and also share with your students
3) Take home and in-class exercises to allow your students to put into practice what you preach
4) A portable, pocket sized tool which they can reference anytime of the day to stay on top of their English building skills

If you are interested in seeing how I have created an award winning system around the principles above please click ESL Curriculum to read more.
